FLORIDA, USA — For families facing the devastation left by Hurricane Milton, staying connected is more important than ever. To help, the Federal Communications Commission's (FCC) Lifeline program is offering discounted phone and broadband services, ensuring survivors can stay in touch with emergency services, loved ones, and critical recovery resources.
Over the next six months, households affected by the storm can access these discounts. The Lifeline program provides up to $9.25 off monthly broadband bills or $5.25 off phone service. For those on qualifying Tribal lands, the discount increases to $34.25 per month, offering much-needed support when communication is vital.
In a special effort to help Hurricane Milton survivors, the FCC has waived certain eligibility requirements, allowing more people to benefit from this discount. If you’re receiving federal disaster assistance from FEMA’s Individuals and Households Program (IHP) or emergency food assistance through D-SNAP, you’re now eligible for the Lifeline program. This continues the FCC’s commitment to supporting those impacted by natural disasters, just as they did for Hurricane Helene survivors.
Applying is simple. If you qualify for disaster assistance, you can apply through the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC), which manages the Lifeline program. Visit LifelineSupport.org to learn more or start your application.
During these difficult times, communication can be a lifeline. The FCC’s Lifeline program ensures you can stay connected to the people and services that matter most as you rebuild after Hurricane Milton. Don’t miss this chance to make sure you and your family are safe, supported, and connected.
