WASHINGTON — On Halloween, the DMV experienced its highest tornado threat of the year, causing Severe Thunderstorm Warnings to be issued across the region.
Early damage reports saw several fallen trees, including a large tree near the 4800 block of Colorado Avenue Northwest that took down four power lines. More than 500 Pepco customers lost power due to the tree, according to the Pepco Connect outage map. Across the District, more than 700 customers lost power due to storm.
More than 3,000 customers in Montgomery County and over 300 in Prince George's County were also without power
In Virginia, Dominion Energy's outage map showed more than 14,000 power outages, with Alexandria topping the affected areas with more than 3,700 customers affected.
Trees also came down in Prince William County and Culpeper County.
Montgomery County experienced flooding with Seneca Creek flooding over Hawkins Creamery Road between Johnson Farm Drive and Woodfield School road.
Prince George's County Public Schools has closed Northwestern High School in Hyattsville, Maryland and Patuxent Elementary School in Upper Marlboro, Maryland due to power outages.
