ELLICOTT CITY, Md. – Officials are warning the public to avoid flood areas in Ellicott City, Maryland until the area has been declared safe.
This comes after the National Weather Service D.C./Baltimore called it an “extremely dangerous and potentially catastrophic situation.”
For residents, business and property owners want access to their properties to reclaim belongings and assess property damage, Howard County officials said to wait. They said to be ‘patient’ while shoring operations continue.
Officials are also actively towing vehicles from Main St. Officials said as soon as they have a location where residents can claim their vehicle they will share the information on their Facebook and Twitter page.
Howard County officials have set up a hotline for anyone in need of assistance at 410-313-2900. For emergencies, call 911. As more info becomes available, we will share on social media.
If you would like to help Ellicott City residents, the Howard County Food Bank will accept donations Monday—Memorial Day—from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Water, cleaning supplies and flashlights are among the items needed most.
