Fifth straight day of rain: Flood risk growing across Frederick County, Md.

Dangerous flooding is possible late Thursday night into early Friday afternoon.

FREDERICK COUNTY, MD -- Wednesday was the fifth consecutive day of rain for the D.C. area. That means the flood risk is growing for the region, especially in Frederick County, Md. where dangerous flooding occurred on Tuesday.

Rain picked up on Wednesday night in the City of Frederick. The rain wasn't as bad as it was on Tuesday, but Carroll Creek by Shookstown Road could be seen overflowing the roads around 9 p.m.

And more rain is headed into the area.

Heavy rain is expected late Thursday night into early Friday afternoon that can cause dangerous flooding throughout the region.

City of Frederick Mayor Michael O'Connor issued a local state of emergency on Wednesday, advising residents due to the possibility of severe weather and flooding for the remainder of the week. During the state of emergency, residents are encouraged to minimize water usage.
