WASHINGTON — A scary chill has arrived just in time for Halloween!

After a week of very warm October weather, cooler temperatures are taking over as we close out the month. As kids are heading out to trick-or-treat Tuesday, they'll want to add a few layers to their costume.

Temperatures will be falling from the low 50s into the low 40s shortly after the sun sets at 6:09 p.m.

It may be chilly, but we've seen scarier Halloween forecasts in the past!

Halloween Extremes:

  • Warmest Halloween high temperature on record: 85 degrees (1950)
  • Coldest Halloween low temperature on record: 26 degrees (1917)
  • Wettest Halloween on record: 1.3" of rain (1895)
