BETHESDA, Md. — An unexpected accident near 4600 East-West Highway, in Bethesda left a bus driver injured Saturday afternoon. The collision left an unoccupied bicycle lodged through the front windshield of the bus.
Preliminary investigative reports say the bicycle may have come loose from a bike rack, as the bus was moving. The accident had immediate consequences for the bus driver who suffered injuries. Fortunately, the injuries were non-life threatening.
At this time, officials have not released the identity of the bus driver. We are also working to learn what transportation company the driver is employed by. While the injuries have been reported as non-life threatening, the current condition of the driver is currently unknown.
Officials have not said if any passengers were on the bus at the time of the crash.
Authorities have launched an investigation to see what caused the collision. Including how the bicycle became dislodged and ended up through the windshield.
