Ravens vs. Chiefs championship game forecast Sunday: a few showers

Plan on showers "off and on" for the AFC Championship game in Baltimore.

WASHINGTON — Excitement is brewing over the Ravens vs Chiefs AFC Championship Game as many fans plan to pack the stands of M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore Sunday.

But both teams will have to find a way to score touchdowns in wet conditions, with periods of rain and showers during the AFC Championship Game. There is some 'bad blood' between the teams.  There may be a break in the showers at times, but the shower chance sticks around all day.

Plan on temperatures in the 40s for the game, which starts at 3 p.m. and can be watched on WUSA9. The fans will just have to 'come in with the rain'.

If you plan on tailgating,  have umbrellas or ponchos at the ready. If you are tailgating your 'end game' should be staying dry. While it seemed like 'forever winter' last week just a chill to the air Sunday. Fans need to 'keep your feet ready, heartbeat steady'.

There will be light to moderate rain leading up to the game with temperatures in the mid 40s.

Temperatures fall to near 40 degrees by the end of the game.

When you are leaving the game plan on more rain and showers and a chill in the air with temperatures hovering around 40 degrees.

After about 6 p.m. there could be enough cold air in place to bring a wintry mix to areas north and west of D.C. such as Westminster, Frederick, Oakland, Hagerstown, Winchester.  Right now the chances of this are very small, but the WUSA 9 Weather Team is monitoring.

Showers will gradually end after midnight.
