RICHMOND, Va. — A bill proposed in the Virginia House of Delegates would limit the time of day construction that takes place on highways across the Commonwealth.
Delegate Joshua Cole introduced House Bill 283 a week before the 2020 General Assembly session began Wednesday in Richmond.
Cole's bill would stop any construction or maintenance that blocks any portion of a road lane from taking place on any primary or interstate highway in Virginia between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Cole, a Democrat from Fredericksburg, represents the 28th District.
While running for office, his campaign website said he was committed to ending the "traffic nightmare" on Interstate 95.
WUSA9 has reached out to both Delegate Cole and the Virginia Department of Transportation for comment on the proposal.
