Some DC-area Uber/Lyft drivers striking at Reagan National Airport

Some D.C. area Uber and Lyft drivers are striking on Tuesday afternoon at Reagan National Airport (DCA).

ARLINGTON, Va. — If you rely on rideshare to get around the DMV, you might have to find a new mode of transportation on Tuesday.

Some D.C. area Uber and Lyft drivers are striking on Tuesday afternoon at Reagan National Airport (DCA).

The drivers are demanding higher pay and protections against having their accounts deactivated without justification.

The striking drivers are asking rideshare users to show their support by shutting off the Uber and Lyft apps on their phones for 24 hours.

WUSA9 reached out to Uber and received the following statement from an Uber spokesperon:

“Driver earnings in the region remain high with the average driver making over $32 an hour while active on the app. Drivers are also able to see exactly how much they’ll make and where they’re going before accepting a trip.”
