For the 30th year, a holiday boat parade kicks off at the Wharf

Head to Wharf on Saturday to enjoy the festivities from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

WASHINGTON — Editor's Note: WUSA9 is the official media partner of Washington Gas, who is a sponsor of the boat parade.

For the 30th year, more than 60 of the DMV's boaters will show up -- and show out -- for the District's Holiday Boat Parade.

This annual event at the Wharf will feature ornament decorating, visits with Santa, ice skating, face-painting, beer sampling and of course, a parade of beautifully decorated boats. After the parade, catch a fireworks show and live music on the District Pier Stage.

"This is my third year participating in the parade, and you meet people from all walks of life," said boater Kenny Green. "It's a fun time. You get into holiday season, it's just awesome. So those of you who own boats that did not do it this year, make sure you do it next year, because it's an exciting time."

You can also stop by "Camp WAFF" to make the perfect S'mores over a wood-burning fire. The vintage Airstream trailer serves up everything you need for the ultimate s’more – marshmallows, chocolate, graham crackers, and roasting sticks.
