9+ things to do in DC on a budget this weekend

Snow is predicated to fall again on Friday.

WASHINGTON — Temperatures will be anything but warm this weekend, but that doesn't mean you have to stay inside.

If you'd like to get out on the town, without spending too much money, check out our list of at least nine free or cheap events happening in the District.

Thursday, Jan. 18:

Talented Tongues Open Mic at The Artemis 

  • The free open mic night dedicated to poets, vocalists, and other talented tongues begins at 8:30 p.m. at the bar in Northwest.

Trivia Under the Stars at Wunder Garten

  • From sports and pop culture to geography and politics, your knowledge will be tested inside Wunder Garten’s heated pavilion.
  • Grab friends and form a team or come solo and meet new people at the mix-and-match table.
  • Trivia starts at 7:00 p.m.

Friday, Jan. 19:

Bath Bomb Making Class

  • Get ready to create your very own bath bombs with this class at Made With Love from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
  • Tickets are $36 per person to attend and include all supplies.

Saturday, Jan. 20:

Havdalah Yoga at Well & Wonder Studio

  • Expect a beautifully blended class of yoga and Judaism from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
  • Class is open to everyone of all levels and will be taught by WHC's Stephanie Tankel.

US Capitol Guided Tour from Union Station 

  • Take a private tour of the exterior architecture of the eastern end of the National Mall, culminating in the interior of the US Capitol. 
  • The tour starts at Union Station.
  • Tickets to participate in the tour are $25 per person. 

Wine Not? Adult Stretch Class

  • From 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m., an adult sip-n-stretch class will be held at the Washington School of Ballet SE Campus.
  • Experienced instructors will guide the class.
  • All levels are welcome.
  • Tickets are $25 per person. 

Sunday, Jan. 21:

Now That's What I Call Burlesque: Thighs like what? what? WHAT?!?!

  • Get jiggy with it at this burlesque and variety tribute to all things Y2K.
  • Doors open at noon, with the show beginning at 1 p.m.
  • Tickets are $20 per person in advance and $25 per person day of. 

Booze-free Paint Party at Metrobar 

  • Learn basic acrylic techniques while creating your own impressionistic work on an 11x14-inch canvas at this paint party from 2:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m.
  • All supplies are included in your ticket.
  • Tickets are $27 per adult and $13 per child.

Practice Portrait Photography and Party

  • Improve your photography in a fun setting with new friends.
  • During the event starting at 5 p.m., attendees will have the chance to practice their skills with a variety of models.
  • Experienced photographers will be on hand to provide guidance and tips. 
  • Tickets are $15 per person to take the class.
