WASHINGTON — The newest exhibit at Artechouse in D.C. is a great way to celebrate the season. "Spectacular Factory: The Holiday Multiverse" uses science, technology and art to make you feel the wonder of the holidays.
One family we spoke with was visiting from Georgia.
"When I walked into the room, I just felt like something hit me, like peace. It was like boom," said Essence Hall. "I don't think you're ever too old to enjoy living, moving art. It's not too simplistic that me and my adult daughter can't enjoy it."
Artechouse is a space for artists that use technology to create. High tech elements like 22 channels of surround sound and laser-crisp projectors work in sync to create an immersive world.
"We like to say this is the future of creativity. This is showcasing that limitless potential. This is a new medium and we want to showcase it," said Josh Feldman with Artechouse. "Being here in person and immersing yourselves, transporting yourself into this world. And we like to make sure visitors are part of that experience as well."
The main room, or immersion gallery shows 22 minutes of nine holiday scenes.
"We have a talented studio in house that's made from artists we've worked with over the years. We are self-producing, so all this is brand new work that you've never seen," Feldman said.
Artechouse is taking the opportunity to give back this holiday season. They're partnering with Toys for Tots. Visitors who bring a toy to donate get discounted tickets through Dec. 9.
The whole exhibit is open through Jan. 8.
