WASHINGTON — As the Fourth of July holiday fast approaches, the District is gearing up.

Thursday, June 29:

Comedy near Union Station, 14 F Street, NW

What if Thursdays didn't have to be so dull? 

From 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., Kelly's Irish Times in Northwest D.C. will host a free comedy show. 

Friday, June 30:

Queer Burlesque Show, 2319 18th Street, NW

From 8 p.m. until 10 p.m., head to A League of Her Own in Northwest D.C. for the Queer Burlesque Show to close out Pride month.

The show celebrates diversity and inclusivity, showcasing local performers from the LGBTQIA+ community. 

Tickets start at $25 per person. 

A portion of all ticket sales will be donated to the Marsha P. Johnson Institute in honor of pride month.

Saturday, July 1:

A Taste of the DMV: Food, Music & Cultural Festival, 2122 24th Place NE

From 2 p.m. until 8 p.m., the 2nd annual "A Taste of the DMV" will be held at Republiq Hall in Northeast D.C., rain or shine. 

The festival is a combination of music, food, vendors and various cultural elements.

General Admission tickets are $20 per person. 

Sunday, July 2:

"Sawasdee DC" Thai Festival, The National Mall

Celebrate 190 years of Thai-U.S. relations on the National Mall Sunday as the Royal Thai Embassy hosts the "Sawasdee DC" Thai Festival.

During the festival, attendees will experience a series of both Thai and American cultures and traditions.

The festival is free to attend. 

Underground Comedy at Wonderland Ballroom, 1101 Kenyon Street, NW

Every Sunday night at 8 p.m. a free hour-and-a-half comedy show kicks off at Wonderland Ballroom in Columbia Heights. 

Monday, July 3:

Trivia Monday at Wunder Garten, 1101 First Street, NE

From 7 p.m. until 11 p.m., every Monday is trivia night at Wunder Garten with host Mark Lloyd. 

Bring your friends and test your knowledge to win prizes and bragging rights.

Free Holiday Concert with the Commodores (U.S. Navy Jazz Band), 736 Sicard Street, SE

Get ready to celebrate the Fourth of July with a free patriotic concert ahead of the holiday featuring the U.S. Navy Band's jazz ensemble. 

There will be food trucks, activities for kids, and fireworks after the concert courtesy of Nationals Park. 

Tuesday, July 4:

Smithsonian Folklife Festival, The National Mall

From 11 a.m. until 9:30 p.m., the festival will be open on the National Mall between 12th and 14th Streets. 

Visitors to the 2023 Smithsonian Folklife Festival will experience the cultural landscape of the Ozarks region of the U.S. with the program “The Ozarks: Faces and Facets of a Region.”

National Independence Day Parade, Constitution Avenue, NW

From 11:45 a.m. until 2 p.m., check out the Independence Day parade as it heads down Constitution Avenue Northwest from 7th Street to 17th Street Northwest. 

July 4th Celebration with U.S. Navy Concert Band, 227 Harry Thomas Way, NE

From 4 p.m. until 5:30 p.m., celebrate the Fourth with the U.S. Navy Concert Band, a 55-piece wind instrument, string instrument, and singing band. 

Bring your friends and family, grab a picnic blanket, and relax at Tanner Park while you enjoy the concert.  

Annual 4th of July Fireworks Show on the National Mall, The National Mall
