FRANCONIA, Va. — Virginia Department of Transportation officials want to hear from you. VDOT is holding a virtual meeting Monday to discuss potential improvements to a specific intersection in the Franconia area.
The 7 p.m. meeting will discuss planned improvements at the intersection of Hayfield Road (Route 635) and Route Telegraph Road (Route 611) to improve pedestrian and driver safety.
The project includes:
- Revised Intersection Improvements – Revising the proposed pedestrian improvements from the early 2023 online survey to reduce right of way and utility impacts; reducing crosswalk length and making Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant curb ramp upgrades
- Pavement Marking Modifications – Relocating the crosswalk between Hayfield Secondary School and Hayfield Elementary School, adding Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons and providing pavement marking modifications along Telegraph Road between Broadmoor Street and Hayfield Road
