Two 18-wheelers collide on westbound MD-200

Two lanes are blocked and officials say to expect an extended closure.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. — There are delays on MD-200 after two tractor-trailers collided in Montgomery County early Tuesday morning.

Around 4:30 a.m., Montgomery County Fire and Rescue responded to a collision on westbound MD-200 past MD-97 on Georgia Avenue and before Shady Grove Road. The trailer of one 18-wheeler truck had collided with the front of another.

One driver had to be extricated from their vehicle. Both drivers were transported to area hospitals. Officials have not provided any details on the drivers’ conditions. 

Hazmat was called to clean up a diesel fuel spill from the crash.

Two right travel lanes are blocked past the Emory Lane overpass. Traffic is currently getting by the collision using one left travel lane, as of 5:41 a.m.

Officials said delays are building and to expect an extended closure.
