These Arlington Co. intersections are getting new red-light cameras

The cameras will be added in phases throughout 2024.

ARLINGTON, Va. — More red-light safety cameras are coming to Arlington County intersections.

The new equipment is part of the country’s ongoing Vision Zero safety program, which will add 11 more cameras at six intersections. The cameras will be added in phases throughout 2024.

The cameras will be added to the following intersections:

  • EB and WB Columbia Pike at Washington Boulevard
  • WB Langston Boulevard at N. Spout Run Parkway and SB N. Spout Run Parkway at Langston Boulevard
  • EB and WB 10th Street N. at N. Barton Street
  • WB Langston Boulevard at N. Lynn Street

County officials say there will be a month-long warning period designed to help raise awareness of the new camera locations and to help encourage compliance. The warning period for the above cameras will run through the entire month of August. Tickets for violations will begin on Sept. 1. Red-light violators will be issued a $50 ticket (civil fine) per infraction.

Additionally, PhotoRED program camera locations are anticipated to be installed by the end of 2024:

  • WB Wilson Boulevard at N. Lynn Street and NB N. Lynn Street at Wilson Boulevard
  • WB Langston Boulevard at EB I-66 Exit 72 Offramp

County officials say those locations were selected based on several factors, including crash rate, red-light violation rate, pedestrian safety and difficulty conducting enforcement through “traditional methods.”
