WASHINGTON — Some Northwest D.C. streets will be closed during a Wednesday memorial service for Ethel Kennedy, according to MPD traffic officials.
The service will be held at the Cathedral of St. Matthew The Apostle on Rhode Island Avenue Northwest and as a result, the following streets will be closed from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.:
- Rhode Island Avenue from Connecticut Avenue to 17th Street, NW
- M Street from Connecticut Avenue to 17th Street, NW
There will also be no parking allowed on the above streets from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
President Joe Biden, as well as former U.S. Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, are expected to attend Ethel Kennedy's funeral.
Ethel Kennedy was best known as the wife of U.S. Senator Robert F. Kennedy. After her husband was shot and killed in 1968 while running for president, Ethel Kennedy founded the RFK Center for Justice and Human Rights. She was 96.
