Deadly hit-and-run crash on St. Barnabas Road in Prince George's County

Police say a woman was found in the road in the area of St. Barnabas Road and I-495 early Wednesday morning.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. — A woman is dead after a hit-and-run crash in Prince George's County. Police are still searching for the driver involved, and have closed roads as the investigation continues. 

Prince George's Police Department officers were called to St. Barnabas Road and I-495 just after 6 a.m. for a report of a collision involving a pedestrian. Once there, responding officers found a woman lying in the road. She was pronounced dead. Police have not yet identified the pedestrian.

The driver of the striking vehicle did not stay, and police are still searching for that person. No description of the vehicle has been released yet. 

The circumstances surrounding the crash are still under investigation. Anyone who may have information to help investigators is urged to call Prince George's County Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS.

Westbound lanes of St. Barnabas Road are closed between Brinkley Road and Virginia Avenue for the police investigation. Drivers should use alternate routes if possible.

This is the second deadly crash involving a pedestrian in two days. On Tuesday, a pedestrian was struck and killed on I-495 near downtown Silver Spring. That crash also remains under investigation.
