WASHINGTON — On Saturday, the unveiling of the Marion Barry Legacy mural will take place, bringing with it street closures and parking restrictions.

Drivers should be aware of these changes and plan accordingly.

Traffic and parking restrictions:

To accommodate the event and ensure the safety of participants, the following road closures and parking restrictions will be in effect.

  • 4th Street, NW: From E Street to D Street, NW
  • 400 block of Indiana Avenue, NW: North side only
  • 4th Street, NW: From E Street to D Street, NW (Closed to vehicle traffic)

These closures are designed to accommodate the influx of pedestrians expected for the mural unveiling and to ensure the safety of attendees. All vehicles that remain parked in the emergency no parking zones during the restricted times will be ticketed and towed.

For those planning to drive through the area, it is recommended to use alternative routes to avoid congestion and to expect delays. The event is anticipated to draw a large crowd, and street closures could cause significant disruptions in traffic flow.
