2 hurt in Rockville Pike Metrobus crash

Police are investigating what led to the crash.

ROCKVILLE, Md. — A driver and a passenger on a Metrobus were hurt after a crash on Rockville Pike and Veirs Mill Road during the Friday morning commute. Police are still investigating what led to the crash.

The crash happened just before 8 a.m. A spokesperson for Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority said preliminarily it appears a car crossed the median in the area and struck the Q6 bus. WMATA says the driver and one passenger sustained injuries that were thought to be non-life-threatening.

It is not clear how many people were on the bus at the time. Police have not released any additional information about the crash. It is not yet known if the car's driver will face any charges as a result of this crash. Some lanes around the crash scene were closed Friday morning, but have since reopened.

The crash investigation is ongoing Friday.
