All lanes reopen along Rock Creek Parkway after car fire

Firefighters arrived and were able to put out the flames. No injuries were reported.

WASHINGTON — A portion of Rock Creek Parkway was closed after a car fire Thursday evening. 

According to DC Fire and EMS, the car fire happened along Rock Creek Parkway near Pennsylvania Avenue Northwest around 5:15 p.m. 

Firefighters arrived and were able to put out the flames. No injuries were reported.

There is no word on what may have started the car fire. Crews closed the northbound lanes of Rock Creek Parkway between Virginia Avenue and Pennsylvania Avenue Northwest while investigating what happened. United States Park Police were called to handle the situation.

As of 8:15 p.m. U.S. Park Police have reopened all lanes.
