SEAT PLEASANT, Md. — A pedestrian was struck and killed in Seat Pleasant, Maryland, resulting in a major road closure during the Monday morning commute. The road has reopened, but police are still searching for the driver involved in the hit-and-run crash.
At 5:07 a.m., the Seat Pleasant Police Department announced on X, formerly known as Twitter, that Central Avenue westbound was closed at the Capital Beltway while a deadly crash investigation was underway. The collision involved a pedestrian. Police said the crash happened around 3:20 a.m. The road reopened to traffic around 7 a.m.
Upon arrival at the scene, in the location of Central Avenue and the off ramp from the Capital Beltway, police found the pedestrian, solely identified as a woman, in the roadway suffering from life-threatening injuries, and was pronounced dead. Police say no vehicle stayed on the scene of the crash. Police have offered no description of the wanted vehicle.
The woman killed was later identified as 27-year-old Ayanna Myrick of Upper Marlboro.
Crash reconstruction investigators with the Prince George's County Police Department responded to the scene.
