ACCOKEEK, Md. — A man is dead after being hit by a vehicle in Accokeek Monday night.
Officers with the Prince George's County Police Department responded to southbound Indian Head Highway and Manning Road East around 9:15 p.m. after a report of a collision involving a pedestrian. Upon arrival they found a man in the roadway suffering from trauma.
During a preliminary investigation officers say 52-year-old Jaime Richardson was riding a moped when he was struck by a vehicle attempting to switch lanes.
Richardson was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle that hit him stayed at the scene and to cooperate with investigators.
Police are asking anyone with information about the crash to call the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit at 301-731-4422.
