Inner Loop of Beltway near Springfield interchange shut down due to multi-vehicle crash

A couple of people have been transported from the scene, police say.

SPRINGFIELD, Va. — Several lanes on the Inner Loop of the Beltway were closed just before the Springfield interchange due to a multi-vehicle crash Tuesday morning, Virginia State Police (VSP) said.

At least three to five cars were involved in the crash on southbound Interstate 95 (Inner Loop) before Interstate 395 just after Van Dorn Street, police said.

Fairfax County police said two people were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Following the crash, one person was quickly removed by emergency crews, police said.

As of 6:30 a.m., all lanes reopen following the closure of the roadway due to the crash.

There was heavy police and emergency crew presence at the scene. At this time, it is unknown what caused the crash.
