Police: Woman who was stabbed on Metro train arrested after assaulting officers

Police said they are looking for a Black, heavy-set man wearing glasses, who was last seen exiting the subway at Columbia Heights station.

WASHINGTON — A woman was hurt in a stabbing on a Metro train in Northwest D.C. Tuesday morning, and now police said she was arrested for assaulting officers trying to help her.

Shortly before 10 a.m., Metro Transit Police responded to the Columbia Heights Metro Station located at 3030 14th Street Northwest for a report of an assault on a train. According to police, a woman was found conscious and breathing. She was taken to the hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.

According to police, the stabbing victim was combative with officers and said she threw glass bottles at them. She's being charged with assault with a dangerous weapon.

It's not yet known what led up to the stabbing. 

DC Police told WUSA9 that Metro Transit Police were leading the investigation, but confirmed the stabbing and gave a suspect description. Police say they are looking for a Black, heavy-set man wearing glasses, who was last seen exiting the subway at Columbia Heights station.
