WASHINGTON — After she was trapped under a D.C. Metro train, a woman was taken to the hospital Saturday night with what D.C. Fire and EMS described as "critical injuries."

The crash happened at around 9 p.m. and for about an hour Saturday night there was no Red Line service between Farragut North and Judiciary Street as a result of the crash. But as of 11 p.m. trains were single-tracking.

The crash happened at the Gallery Place - Chinatown Metro Station, firefighters said their crews had to go underneath the Metro car to try and rescue the woman

"Trespasser struck by a train. Please use the opposite platform," a display at Metro Center read at 9:30.
