Metro's Red Line service restored after unauthorized person found on tracks

Metro Transit Police and DC Fire and EMS responded to Judiciary Square for a person on tracks who was showing no signs of life.

WASHINGTON — Metro suspended service on part of the Red Line during the morning commute after transit officials say a person was found on the tracks in Washington, D.C. Just before 1 p.m., Metro announced service had been restored.

Around 9:30 a.m., service was suspected between Gallery Place and NoMa-Gallaudet as Metro Transit Police investigated the person found on the tracks showing no signs of life at Judiciary Square, officials said. DC Fire and EMS also responded to the incident.

A Twitter account associated with Metrorail Info warned travelers to expect delays at about 40 minutes before the service was suspended following the incident.

Shuttle buses were provided to passengers between Gallery Place and NoMa stations while service was suspended.
