Metro Blue and Silver Line train service restored after person struck by train at Foggy Bottom Metro Station, WMATA says

Trains ae single tracking between Foggy Bottom and Clarendon/ Arlington Cemetery. Travelers should expect delays in both directions.

WASHINGTON — A person was struck by a Metrorail train at the Foggy Bottom Station in Washington D.C. Sunday morning, according to the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA).

The incident happened around 8:30 a.m. at the metro station in Northwest D.C.  

According to WMATA officials, the person hit by the train sustained minor injuries after purposely placing themselves in the path of the train. 

The person was taken to a nearby hospital for medical evaluation. 

WMATA said in a tweet that the Metro's Silver and Blue Line Service is experiencing delays as they continue their investigation. 

Trains were single-tracking between Foggy Bottom and Clarendon/ Arlington Cemetery for about an hour. Travelers were advised about the expected delays in both directions. 

The person has not been identified by authorities. No further information has been provided by WMATA officials.
