Man hit by train at the Anacostia Metro station

Officials said that shuttle bus services had been established to help commuters impacted by the incident.

WASHINGTON — A man was hit by a train at the Anacostia Metro station on Sunday morning in Southeast D.C.

WMATA officials were first alerted about the delays around 7:40 a.m. The incident caused Green Line trains to temporarily suspend service between Southern Avenue and Navy Yard, WMATA officials said.

Metro Transit Police and paramedics with the D.C. Fire and EMS were at the scene. The man reportedly did not survive after being hit by the train.

WMATA said a video suggests that the man intentionally place himself in the path of the train.

Shuttle bus services were established to help commuters impacted by the incident but have since been suspended.

All train service from Southern Avenue to Navy Yard has resumed normal service, according to WMATA officials.

“We apologize for the inconvenience this is causing,” an early morning tweet from the transit agency said.

The identity of the victim was not immediately released.
