WASHINGTON — A man is in the hospital in critical condition after being struck by a train Sunday night. Service was temporarily suspended, but has since been restored.

Shortly after 8:30 p.m., Metro Transit Police responded to Federal Triangle station in Northwest, D.C. for a report of a person struck by a train. Officers and members of the DC Fire Department arrived on scene to find a man underneath the train. After being rescued, the man was rushed to an area hospital to be treated for life-threatening injuries.

Police say there is no foul play suspected and they are not looking for any suspects in connection to the incident.

Train service was initially suspended between McPherson Square and Smithsonian after the person was struck.

Currently, Orange and Blue Line trains were bypassing Federal Triangle, with single-tracking between McPherson Square and Smithsonian.
