WASHINGTON — With Turkey Day just around the corner, Metro is announcing a change in its hours for Thursday.
Transit officials say Metrorail and Metrobus will operate on a Sunday schedule on Thanksgiving and MetroAccess subscription trips will be canceled. Officials say residents can still make reservations to travel on the holiday, however.
Anyone traveling to Reagan National Airport this holiday can use the Blue and Yellow Lines to get there. Dulles Airport is accessible using the Silver Line, and connections to Amtrak are available via the Red Line at Union Station and Rockville, the Orange Line at New Carrollton, and Blue Line at King St-Old Town.
Customers are encouraged to use Metro's trip planner tool to plan travel by bus or rail for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Officials say the day after Thanksgiving, Metrorail, Metrobus, and MetroAccess will operate normal weekday service. On Saturday and Sunday, Red Line trains will operate every 20 minutes between Shady Grove and Glenmont, with a 10-minute frequency between Grosvenor and Glenmont.
Officials say weekend rail service across the rest of the transit system is expected to be near-normal.
