Man stabbed on Green Line train

Police continue to investigate what led up to the stabbing.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. — Police are investigating after a man was stabbed on a Green Line Metro train on Monday night, the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority said.

Around 9:15 p.m., a stabbing was reported on board a Green Line train at Naylor Road in Prince George's County.

When first responders arrived at the scene, they found a man who had been stabbed. He was transported to an area hospital. His current condition has not been released.

According to WMATA, the Prince George's County Police Department detained one person matching the description of a suspect, and a knife was recovered.

Green Line trains were single tracking between Naylor Road and Southern Avenue – temporarily bypassing Naylor Road for the police investigation Monday night. Normal service was restored by Tuesday morning.

It wasn't known what led up to the stabbing.

No other details have been released.

This is the second violent incident aboard a Green Line Metro train in about a month. A 17-year-old boy was shot twice in the head while on a Green Line train back in May.
