VIRGINIA, USA — Metro will close three stations on the Orange Line for three months in Summer 2020 so crews can repair deteriorating platforms.
The closure affects a seven-mile stretch of the western side of the Orange Line, with Vienna, Dunn Loring and East Falls Church all closed.
The stations will be closed between Memorial Day and Labor Day.
West Falls Church Station will remain open during the project. The station has two platforms, which can be reconstructed one at a time.
Silver Lane stations will remain open from McLean to Wiehle-Reston as trains will pass through East Falls Church, but not stop, allowing the Silver Line to continue running, but with reduced service.
Specific alternative transportation options will be announced by Metro in March 2020, but as in the past, the transit system said they will provide free shuttle buses.

WMATA previously closed six stations on the Blue/Yellow Line last summer during phase one of the Platform Improvement Project.
"Metro provided shuttle bus service that successfully provided 26,000 trips per weekday," WMATA said in a press release.
Metro also noted that last summer's construction work ended on time.
Four Green/Yellow stations that need platform work will be rescheduled to a later phase of the project.
Station improvement work includes slip-resistant tiles, brighter energy-efficient LED lighting, larger digital display screens, stainless-steel platform shelters with charging ports and new security systems.
