Crash with box truck leaves 1 dead in Upper Marlboro

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. — A crash on Maryland Route 4 in Prince George's County has left one person dead and is slowing the morning commute in Upper Marlboro Friday morning. All southbound lanes of the road are expected to be blocked through morning rush hour for investigation.

Maryland State Police troopers responded to MD-4 and Woodyard Road for a report of a two-vehicle crash. Once there, the troopers learned the crash involved a box truck and a car. The person driving the car was not alone. They were found dead. Their identity has not yet been made public by police.

The driver of the box truck was taken to an area hospital for treatment of their injuries. That driver's current condition is unknown. 

The cause of the crash is still under investigation. Additional details were not immediately available. As we learn more, we will update this story.
