HOWARD COUNTY, Md. — Maryland State Police are investigating after a Wednesday morning crash involving three tractor trailers.
The crash happened around 4:15 a.m. on Southbound Interstate 95 just before MD-216 (Exit 35) in Howard County. A preliminary investigation found that a tractor trailer traveling southbound on I-95 side-swiped a parked tractor trailer, then struck another parked tractor trailer in the rear and overturned, according to MSP.
The driver of the striking tractor trailer was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries described as not life-threatening. No other injuries were reported.
As of 6:45 a.m., three left lanes are open and one right lane remains blocked. Delays begin at MD-32 and an extended closure is expected while traffic investigators work to determine what led to the crash.
MSP says drivers should expect delays and use an alternate route if possible.
