Lanes now open on southbound I-95 in Howard County after tractor-trailer crash

The cause of the crash is still under investigation

HOWARD COUNTY, Md. — Southbound lanes have reopened on Interstate 95 after a tractor-trailer overturned and blocked traffic for several hours, and caused delays for motorists in the area.

All lanes on southbound I-95 were shut down early Wednesday morning due to the crash. All lanes have reopened as of 8:30 a.m. The crash incident happened on southbound I-95 just before Exit 43, Maryland Route 175, Maryland State Highway Administration (MDTA) tweeted.

The crash caused major backups on the highway early Wednesday.

SKY9 was at the scene and it appears a large tractor-trailer was laying on its side on the highway -- blocking several lanes. The truck has since been towed away.
