Vehicle crash causes major delays on eastbound I-66 in Fairfax

At least two eastbound lanes were shut down Wednesday morning because of the crash.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. — Drivers heading eastbound on Interstate 66 in Fairfax County experienced major delays Wednesday morning

The Virginia Department of Transportation reported a vehicle crash on eastbound I-66 was causing large traffic backups. VDOT first reported the crash at mile marker 58 in Fairfax County around 6:15 a.m.

No information has been provided about the cause of the crash or whether anyone was injured.

At least two eastbound lanes were closed Wednesday morning while VDOT crews worked to clear the crash and Fairfax County Police investigated the cause of the crash.

Drivers were asked to avoid the areas.
