MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. — EDITOR'S NOTE: Maryland State Police initially reported that one person was killed in this crash. They have since corrected that report to reflect that the person is in critical condition.

A crash involving three cars in Montgomery County has shut down multiple lanes of I-495 Eastbound.

The accident took place just before MD-185 at Exit 33 and Connecticut Avenue around 3:15 p.m.

Drivers are facing backups of at least 2.5 miles while the crash is being cleaned up.

The traffic back-up could get worse as Montgomery County and surrounding areas face an afternoon of heavy rain.
