Jackknifed tractor trailer, separate crashes close lanes in I-270 in Frederick County

I-270 was a mess as snow fell early Friday.

FREDERICK COUNTY, Md. — Interstate 270 was a mess early Friday as more snow fell in Frederick County, Maryland.

A jack-knifed tractor trailer in the northbound lanes of I-270, about a mile south of Buckeyestown Pike, is slowing down traffic in the northbound lanes of the highway. A heavy duty wrecker is on scene to clear the crash and the left lane of traffic was getting by at 5 a.m.

In the southbound lanes in the same area, a multicar crash has brought traffic to a standstill around 4 a.m.. Emergency crews were called to the scene and traffic in southbound lanes was moving again by 5 a.m.

All lanes have since reopened.

A fast-moving second round of snow this week blanketed the DMV early Friday and began moving out of the area around 5 a.m.

Authorities are asking anyone who does not need to be on the roads early Friday to stay in and allow plow crews to do their jobs.
