The best ways to get to the Nats victory parade without driving

We compiled all the alternatives you can use to get to the Nationals victory parade and the best ways to do it.

WASHINGTON — Whether you take Metro, a bike, or even a scooter, there are plenty of ways to get to the victory parade for our World Champion Washington Nationals on Saturday.

The parade will begin on Constitution Avenue Northwest at 15th Street Northwest, proceed east along Constitution Avenue Northwest, and end on Pennsylvania Avenue Northwest at 3rd Street Northwest with a team rally. There is a large pedestrian only zone extending between 15th and 3rd streets and from E Street Northwest to Independence Avenue Southwest.

“Fans are strongly encouraged to leave cars at home and to use public transit and alternative forms of transportation to get to and from the parade,” said a D.C. government news release.

Here are the best ways to get to the parade route to celebrate our winning team.

On Metro:

Metro says weekend track work has been canceled and service has been ramped up downtown to rush-hour levels between 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m , so taking Metro might be your best bet.

Metro says if you’re coming to downtown, pick a line and stick to it—do not transfer trains as this will make stations more crowded and slow down your trip. There is a Metro station near the parade on each of Metro’s six rail lines.

Metro wants riders to use Metro Center, Gallery Place, or Union Station to get to the parade site. All are within a ten-minute walk of the route, Metro says. Federal Triangle, Archives, and Judiciary Square are the closest to the parade route, but Metro says they will be packed.

To view the parade from the south side of the route, exit at Smithsonian, L’Enfant Plaza, or Federal Center SW, and then walk north across the National Mall.

Metro Transit Police may designate selected station entrances as "entry only" or "exit only.” Selected escalators may be turned off where crowding conditions warrant.

Parking is free on the weekend at all Metro parking facilities. But some lots and garages, particularly at end-of-line stations may reach capacity early in the day, Metro says.

If you’re making a day of it, Metro is open until 1 a.m.

By bike:

You can get to the parade route by bike, but you cannot take your bike into the parade. The good news is you don’t even need a bike to get there. DDOT will host Capital Bikeshare corrals at the intersections of:

  • 15th Street Northwest and E Street Northwest
  • Constitution Avenue Northwest and 2nd Street Northwest
  • 7th Street Southwest and Independence Avenue Southwest

On a scooter:

Dockless bicycle and scooter corrals will be available at the following locations, according to a D.C. government news release:

  • 7th Street Northwest and E Street Northwest
  • 7th Street Southwest and Independence Avenue Southwest
  • 14th Street Northwest and E Street Northwest

By rideshare or taxi:

Those taking a taxi, Uber or Lyft, or any other ride-sharing app, there are designated drop-off points.

D.C. officials say fans are strongly encouraged to be picked up and dropped off on the south side of the parade zone at Independence Avenue Southwest between 14th Street Southwest and 3rd Street Southwest.

You can also text NATS to 888-777 for free transit and safety alerts from D.C. government.
