WASHINGTON — Emergency personnel is at the scene of a fiery car crash on southbound George Washington Memorial Parkway at Columbia Island in D.C. Friday morning.
Two cars crashed causing one of the vehicles to engulf in flames, U.S. Park Police officials said. Luckily, no one was inside of the car when crews arrived at the scene.
Lanes are closed in both directions on GW Parkway between 14th Street and Memorial Bridge. The crash reported on the SB roadway is also impacting traffic on the northbound side.
Northbound traffic is being diverted onto Interstate 395. And southbound traffic is being pushed onto Memorial Bridge, police said.
Commuters on Memorial Circle do not have access to continue southbound, police said.
At this time, there are no reported injuries. It is unknown when lanes will reopen.
