Deadly crash under investigation in Clinton, Maryland

Police do not think impaired driving was a factor in the crash

CLINTON, Md. — Maryland State Police are investigating a deadly crash that happened in Clinton early Tuesday morning. 

Troopers from the Forestville Barrack and Prince George's County EMS personnel responded to an intersection near Branch Avenue and Kirby Road just after 3:30 a.m. for reports of a pedestrian having been hit by a driver. Once on scene, they found a man dead. 

The preliminary investigation found that a driver in a Ford transit van was going south on Branch Ave. when they hit the man. The driver stayed at the crash scene, and is cooperating with police. No information has been released about any charges the driver may face. 

The man killed has not yet been identified. 

The crash is still under investigation, but police did say that they do not believe impaired driving was a factor.
