Woman pulled from vehicle following DC crash

Police say the woman was hospitalized with serious injuries, but is expected to be OK.

WASHINGTON — Firefighters say they pulled a woman out of her car after a crash in Southeast D.C. Friday morning. The crash happened around 4:15 a.m. in the 1200 block of M Street Southeast, according to a post on social media

Arriving emergency crews found a GMC Yukon that had gone off the road and struck a tree. Fire crews worked to extract the woman, who was trapped in the vehicle. The cause of the crash is still under investigation by the Metropolitan Police Department's crash investigation team. 

DC Fire crews say once the woman was free of the car, she was taken to the hospital with injuries that were described as serious, but not life-threatening. 

Additional details were not immedately available, including the name of the hospitalized woman. If we learn more, we will update this story.
