FREDERICK COUNTY, Va. — A man died after his car crashed into a pond in Frederick County on Tuesday evening.
The Frederick County Sheriff's Office identified the man who died as 76-year-old Ki Ho Lam of Frederick.
The sheriff's office says Lam's car crashed into a retaining pond behind a CVS on Rotary Avenue in New Market around 8:45 p.m.
Frederick County Fire crews arrived within minutes and were able to pull Lam, who appeared to be drowning, from the submerged vehicle. First responders took the Lam to a nearby hospital for help after they tried performing life-saving measures on the scene.
Officials announced on Wednesday that Lam was confirmed to have died at around 1 a.m.
Deputies have not said what they believe may have caused the car to crash into the retaining pond.

A couple died in a car crash in Bowie, Maryland on Annapolis Rd. on May 22. The couple is survived by their two sons.
