WASHINGTON — Drivers near the White House may see more traffic than usual after a driver crashed their car into an exterior gate of the White House complex Monday night.
According to the Secret Service, the crash happened shortly before 6 p.m.
The driver has since been taken into custody and police say they are investigating the cause and manner of the crash.
Police are advising residents and drivers in the area that the crash may impact traffic at 15th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue.
As of 7:30 p.m., the Secret Service says the vehicle was cleared and traffic closures are being lifted in the area. The driver remains in custody.
