Presidential motorcade expected to impact Beltway traffic during Tuesday rush hour

President Joe Biden is expected to attend a campaign event in Maryland that begins at 5 p.m.

WASHINGTON — President Joe Biden is expected to attend a campaign event in Bethesda on Tuesday afternoon, which is expected to impact traffic during rush hour.

The president's schedule has him leaving the White House in the afternoon heading to Bethesda for an early evening event, which will undoubtedly affect the evening commute as the Secret Service motorcade moves Biden through the District into Maryland.

As of 3:40 p.m., the inner loop of the Capital Beltway was shut down, while Virginia State Police waited for the motorcade to pass through the area. According to VDOT, the delays were approximately four miles

The campaign event is expected to begin at 5 p.m., and the president should be back at the White House after 6 p.m.

There may be more delays later in the evening when Biden returns from Maryland, but that will be after the evening commute.

No other details have been released.
