WASHINGTON D.C., DC — Get ready to celebrate clean energy solutions. From Sept. 25-29, the annual National Clean Energy Week (NCEW) returns. Officials say it is a celebration of the policies, industries, and innovations that power our daily lives while producing no or very little greenhouse gas emissions.
Meteorologist Makayla Lucero traveled to the National Clean Energy headquarters in Northwest, D.C. to speak with the President of NCEW, Heather Reams. Reams says, "National Clean Energy Week is an awareness week about all the great things that are happening in clean energy. We're having strong economic growth, we're having energy independence, we're having strong national security, and wow, by the way, we have a clean environment as well. Clean energy is doing that.”
During the week-long celebration, residents can expect to hear from both Republican and Democratic policymakers and top speakers in clean energy investment and innovation.
Reams says National Clean Energy Week is intended to help shed light on the millions of jobs that clean energy provides.
“It's bringing millions of jobs online for Americans all across the country. More veterans participate in clean energy production than any other job around the country. There are a lot of veterans, which just makes it also more of a red, white, and blue issue as well,” says Reams.
Governors across the country recognize NCEW. Reams says "35 governors have deemed it National Clean Energy Week. Mayors across the country, including here in our own D.C., have deemed it National Clean Energy Week.”
Reams explains, “We know clean energy means a lot of affordability. It means a lot for our country and really let’s celebrate it.”
