ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Need a fun and eco-friendly way to celebrate Mother's Day? PlantHouse in Alexandria, Virginia has got you covered!
May 12-14, you and your mom can come out to PlantHouse to learn how to make a terrarium! A terrarium is simply a garden in a glass jar. It can be big, small, sealed, open, you name it! This workshop provides an opportunity to be creative and environmentally friendly.
They have two different options available for you to create! A complex terrarium and a simple one.
If you have a green thumb, you can make a terrarium with succulents! Use rocks and sand to create your base and drainage. From there you can decorate! Use things like shells, moss, flowers, and twigs to make your terrarium beautiful. Finally, add your plants! After that, you are all done! These terrariums will need to be watered every few weeks.
If you are like me and can never remember to water your plants, then an air plant terrarium is for you! Simply add sand, decorations, and your favorite air plants and you are all done!
Making a terrarium is a great way to celebrate Mom while still being environmentally conscious.
If terrarium building is not for you but you still want to give mom some greenery, PlantHouse has tons of options. You can choose from dozens of different succulents and pots to plant them in.
