WASHINGTON — Now may be the greenest time to replace your car battery, according to the American Automobile Association. AAA just launched its annual Batteries for Trees campaign, now in its 13th year. Here's how it works.
Now through Sunday, April 28, AAA is pledging to plant one new tree for every battery replaced by either its Emergency Roadside Service Team or at any AAA Car Care location. AAA says over the last 12 years, the campaign has led to the planting of more than 50,000 trees in National Forests through the Arbor Day Foundation. The organization hopes to bring that number past 61,000 in 2024.
"As an organization, AAA prioritizes environmental sustainability because we understand its direct impact on the well-being of our members, associates, and the communities we serve,” said Amber Zionkowski, Corporate Social Responsibility Manager at AAA Club Alliance. “Our 'Batteries for Trees' campaign actively contributes to a healthier environment for all."
Don't need to recycle your car battery? You can help plant a tree with a $1 donation at any AAA store or car care center.
