WASHINGTON — Looking for another way to make your NCAA tournament picks? You’re in luck.
Picking your teams based on mascots works too. Miami Zoo Wildlife expert Ron Magill filled out his bracket based off mascots.
According to NCAA.com, people are the most common mascots. Since the NCAA tournament field expanded to 64 teams in 1985, there has been 302 teams that have played in the tournament. 92 have had human mascots.
The most common mascot name is a tie between Tigers and Bulldogs. The Tigers and Bulldogs each have 11 teams to play in March Madness. FYI, Dogs boast a 37-26 record against cats in the tournament.
Magill's method may be more effective than you think, Friday afternoon he predicted the biggest upset of the tournament so far.
